Add Google+1 and LinkedIn Share Buttons

I have finally figured out how to add the Google+1 button, as well as the LinkedIn button to the share buttons on my sites. Do you like how they appear on the blog now (see them at the bottom of this post)? I have been all over the map trying to figure it out! With this method, you can choose which icons you want, and in what order they appear. Here’s what you do:

1. Install the ShareThis plugin on your WordPress blog/site.

2. From the dashboard, go to Settings.

3. Click on ShareThis link to access the settings page.

4. Click on [+] Click to view/modify the HTML tags to open the box of code (as you see below)

5. Delete all the code in that box.

6. Replace the code with this (just copy and paste it into the box)…

 <span class=’st_facebook_buttons’ st_title='<?php the_title(); ?>’ st_url='<?php the_permalink(); ?>’ displayText=’share’></span>

<span class=’st_twitter_buttons’ st_title='<?php the_title(); ?>’ st_url='<?php the_permalink(); ?>’ displayText=’share’></span>

<span class=’st_email_buttons’ st_title='<?php the_title(); ?>’ st_url='<?php the_permalink(); ?>’ displayText=’share’></span>

<span class=’st_plusone_button’ st_title='<?php the_title(); ?>’ st_url='<?php the_permalink(); ?>’ ></span>

<span class=’st_linkedin’ st_title=st_title='<?php the_title(); ?>’ st_url='<?php the_permalink(); ?>’ ></span>

<span class=’st_sharethis_buttons’ st_title='<?php the_title(); ?>’ st_url='<?php the_permalink(); ?>’ displayText=’share’></span>

7. At the bottom of the page, click on “Update ShareThis Options.”

8. You may need to clear the cache for your site, in order for them to show up. (I use the W3 Total Cache plugin to do that.)

Did it work for you?
