Google’s +1 Button – This Week’s Adventure – Grrrrr

Hubspot’s article – Google Introduces +1 Button for Websites on June 1, 2011 was my first introduction to Google’s +1 button. Cool, I thought. So I followed the link to watch the introductory YouTube video.

OK. That’s not going to tell me how to add the +1 button. So I went on over to Google, where I was told to simply:

Copy and past this code into your site…

<!– Place this tag in your head or just before your close body tag –>
<script type=”text/javascript” src=”http://apis.google.com/js/plusone.js”></script>

<!– Place this tag where you want the +1 button to render –>
<g:plusone></g:plusone>

Then Yoast sent his newsletter with further instructions:
First of all, you place the required script tag somewhere, preferably in the footer before the </body>:

<script type=”text/javascript” src=”http://apis.google.com/js/plusone.js”></script>

So far, none of this cutting and pasting of code has worked for me. I guess the new +1 button is just for those who “Speak in Code.” Nothing for dummies… for the time-being anyway. I wonder when the plugin will be available.

July 11, 2011 Update: Check out this posting! I figured out how to add Google+1 and LinkedIn share buttons to posts and pages.
